Andreia the Oceanbound Skunk

Description

This was a character concept that came to me inspired a bit by the punishments of Greek Mythology.

==========

3 Centuries ago, Andreia was an elusive and eye-catching skunk who stole the hearts of various men or even women who were awestruck by her looks. Little did they know however that behind that alluring masquerade was a vain, egotistical, and sly-as-sin individual who would take advantage of those who elevated her image, and rob them of any riches they had.

A great deal of her life, she had spent it stealing from both the rich AND the poor, as well as seducing others to submission for her own sexual desires. This was a person who would enjoy living life on the edge, but had no filters for that “edge”. However, she would get her just reward one day when she got involved in an accident that heavily scarred her face. Repulsed by the scar, she also noticed how much her face aged in time. This disgusted the skunk as she tried many ways to maintain her beautiful image among the public eye, but to almost no avail. Then came the day when she heard of a legendary enchanted pond in a far away mountain that could grant the wishes of those who stepped into it. Desperate to seize the opportunity, she journeyed off to the location of the pond.

When she arrived she could finally smell the success of her wish come true when she said: “I wish for Eternal Youth and Beauty”. And so, she stepped in. However when she did, the mystic spirit residing in the pond rose from the waters and glared at the woman with cold eyes. He granted her wish as her scarred face and overall appearance was rejuvenated with the same divine beauty as before… but at a terrible cost. The spirit saw through the woman and found nothing but bitterness in her heart, thus prompting him to banish Andreia with a curse; A curse that would change her life forever. The spirit condemned the skunk to the most remote and desolate depths of the sea, where barely a soul could gaze upon her. The worst part, everytime she would touch the surface, she would get blown all the way back down to the bottom.

Desperate and mortally terrified by what just fell upon her, for the past 3 Centuries to this very day and so on, Andreia went from sly and bitter, to remorseful and grief-stricken. Clearly this was a punishment that struck hard on her for dozens of years. However, thanks to a matter of serious adapting and coping with her current state, Andreia would grow more and more used to living inside the large and spacious air pocket in a cave that came with her curse. The coldness in her heart withered away and a new room full of warmness opened up within her soul, though she can be elusive and rather timid.

She may have gotten used to living with fish as company, but deep down, she longs for one day to be able to return to the surface world to see how far we have come. With a curse that impedes her access to a surface other than her home cave, the most she can do is collect sunken artifacts, or even, hope that someone could somehow just know she exists… That it’s lonely down there.

That’s all I’ve got on her for now. I hope to conjure more with this character soon. ^^
